THE steamy three-way lesbian shower fantasy scene that kicked off a post-Super Bowl episode of "Grey's Anatomy" kept millions from tuning out ABC after the game ended.

It didn't hurt that a whopping 90.7 million viewers had tuned in to watch the Super Bowl, making it one of the most-watched games ever.

The brief dream sequence by George, one of the show's male stars, powered the episode into the third-most-watched piece of post-Super Bowl programming in nearly 20 years.

With about 38.1 million viewers, it ranked only behind the debut of "Survivor 2" in 2001 and an episode of "Friends" in 1996.

Howard Stern certainly got it right years ago when he shared his logic that lesbians equal ratings.

So do tight games.

Vast amounts of people — one of the largest audiences in years — tuned in for Super Bowl XL, in which the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Seattle Seahawks, 21-10.

The mega-size numbers mean that the game attracted the second-largest average audience for a Super Bowl telecast in a decade.

About 141.4 million viewers watched at least six minutes of the telecast.

For "Grey's," the stellar ratings made the show one of the highest-rated single episodes of series television ever.

It was the best scripted-series performance since the series finale of "Friends" and the best performance of an ABC series since an episode of "Home Improvement" in 1994.
