Dear Viewers,

Tuesday, August 26, my first book -- My Turn at the Bully Pulpit -- comes out and I have absolutely no idea what to expect.

I have never done this before, so I confess to being apprehensive. On the plus side, no one dies from poor sales -- so no matter what, I will live through the experience.

In hindsight, the book experience feels like a giant term paper in college. In other words, it seemed like a great idea at the start. Midway through when I was full of deadlines and overwhelmed, I wondered how I could have been so crazy as to have agreed to write a book. Once I submitted the transcript -- which was co-written with Elaine Lafferty -- I was elated. Now I await the grade -- the sales.

The actual writing may turn out to be easier than selling it. I actually feel a bit odd selling it... I feel like I am selling myself. I suspect the publisher wishes I were better at promoting the book but this part just isn't my strong suit. I plan to appear on some TV shows to promote it and do some book signings, but I have to sandwich it in between my "real job" --- On the Record.
