January 3, 2006: Iran informs the IAEA of its decision to resume nuclear research and development

January 10, 2006: Iran begins removal of IAEA seals at enrichment-related locations.

March 8, 2006: IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei sends report on Iran´s nuclear program to UN Security Council. Director General calls for a "cool headed approach" from all parties.

March 29, 2006: UN Security Council issues Presidential Statement on Iran. Statement urges "suspension of all enrichment-related and reprocessing activities, including research and development"

There is no U.S. diplomatic representation in Iran; the protecting power is Switzerland.

The United States broke diplomatic relations with Iran on April 7, 1980.

There is no Iranian diplomatic representation in the U.S.

Iran has an Interests Section in the Pakistani Embassy.
