Suspected Taliban (search) rebels shot and killed four Afghans working for a Danish aid organization in southeastern Afghanistan (search), then made off with their car, a provincial governor said.

The aid workers, who worked for the Danish Committee for Aid to Afghan Refugees (search), or DACAAR, were killed Monday afternoon on a road in Mokur district of Ghazni province, Gov. Haji Asadullah told The Associated Press.

Mokur lies 140 miles northeast of Kandahar, about halfway to the capital, Kabul.

"The Taliban stopped the car and killed these aid workers," Asadullah said. A fifth aid worker was injured in the attack, he said.

DACAAR officials in Kabul could not immediately be reached for comment. The group has been present in Afghanistan since 1988 and is overseeing several water supply projects.
