A former University of Tennessee football player has been arrested in Florence, Ala., in connection with a Knoxville homicide.

Brent Leeland Vinson, who was dismissed from the team on Dec. 17, was picked up late Tuesday by U.S. Marshals, reported the TimesDaily in Florence, Ala.

Vinson, who is 23, was being held for extradition to Tennessee on charges of evidence tampering and being an accessory to murder after the fact.

U.S. Marshals supervisor Chuck Reynolds in Huntsville, Ala., said he was told Vinson came to Florence in January, intending the transfer to the University of North Alabama.

Police said Vinson was initially considered a witness in the shooting of UT student Charles Austin Corn of Hendersonville. No one has yet been charged with shooting Corn.
