Firefighters from three counties contained a six-alarm blaze Thursday in the Town of Lyons, Wis., that killed two pet dogs and a parakeet and destroyed the business and apartment above it, according to Walworth County Sheriff David Graves.

No one was hurt in the fire, which was reported at just after 9 a.m.

After battling the blaze at Michael's TV, firefighters from six counties managed to contain it to one building — the town's original post office — but the cause was still under investigation, Graves said.

No one was home in the apartment at the time of the fire, and efforts to rescue the pets were unsuccessful, according to the sheriff.

Lyons is in rural Burlington, Wis., about 45 miles southwest of Milwaukee.
