ODESSA, Texas – Five family members died after a pickup truck was driven into a pond and got stuck, authorities said Monday.
Witnesses of the incident Sunday night a few miles south of the West Texas city of Odessa said they called 911 and broke out the windows to try to remove the family members, said Ector County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Gary Duesler. The victims were slumped over and unresponsive, Duesler said.
Duesler said one female was pronounced dead at the scene and three males and another female were transported to an Odessa hospital.
The causes of death will be determined by autopsies, Duesler said.
Authorities did not immediately identify the victims.
