MIKE HUCKABEE, HOST OF “HUCKABEE”: Desperate Democrats are waging an attack against candidates who support the Fair Tax. And that’s the most thoroughly researched and documented plan to overhaul the 67,000 pages of the tax code to make it fair, flat, finite, and family friendly. Either they’re dishonest or just plain dumb when they allege that it will raise taxes. The Fair Tax doesn't RAISE taxes; it REPLACES taxes on our productivity with a tax on consumption.
Most critics of the Fair Tax understand less about it than they do the inner workings of a nuclear reactor, So let me try to speak slowly and clearly so that even Harry Reid can understand it and that means it has to be pretty simple.

Well I want you to know. I've raised 3 kids and now that they are grown and gone, my wife and I have 3 dogs. I learned something from raising kids and training dogs---and here it is. If you reward behavior you get more of it; if you punish it, you get less of it. Our current tax system penalizes and punishes productivity by taxing our work, our savings, our investments, our capital gains, even our death. It rewards mismanagement and reckless behavior by giving tax benefits for failing at the expense of the people who succeeded.
The critics of the Fair Tax who say it's regressive and it’s gonna hurt the poor seem incapable of understanding how the pre-bate in the Fair Tax actually un-taxes the poor for their basic necessities and it empowers rather than enslaves them by punishing them for worker harder and earning more. The Fair Tax stops Congress from picking the winners and losers in the marketplace and you’ll love this: it abolishes the IRS. You’ll get your full paycheck with no deductions, and the hidden embedded 22% tax in everything you buy will disappear and you only pay taxes only when you buy a new item at the retail level in a way that is totally transparent.
It ends the underground economy and prostitutes, pimps, gamblers, drug dealers, and illegals will pay taxes just like you do.
Here’s my offer. I offer to debate any of the Democrat candidates who dare on the Fair Tax. Before one of them accepts, I hope they will at least take the time to know what the heck they’re talking about. I’ll welcome the debate but I would not want to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed man. Current tax is system is one that if you like it and you think it’s helping our economy and its creating jobs, hey vote for the Democrats, because they want to tax you even more. If you think we can do better, you might want to do what some Democrat candidates are afraid of doing----actually find out about the Fair Tax…
