LOS ANGELES – The doctor implicated in the death of rapper Kanye West’s mother following a plastic surgery operation says that she died from a heart attack, pulmonary embolism or an overdose of painkillers and not as a direct result of the operation, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday.

Donda West, 58, died on November 10, one day after Dr. Jan Adams performed a tummy tuck, breast reduction and liposuction surgery.
According to a Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office preliminary report, drugs were not mentioned as a cause of death, instead citing surgery or anesthesia as the primary cause, the Times reports. An investigation is ongoing.
Adams told the Times that he knows "exactly what happened to her" but refuses to comment until a final report is issued from the coroner's office.
In the Times article, Adams discusses several of the malpractice suits that had been filed against him, calling two of them major while dismissing the remaining suits as ‘nuisance’ suits.
