JUPITER, Fla. – Republican state Representative Joe Negron has conceded to Democrat Tim Mahoney in the race to replace disgraced former Congressman Mark Foley, after a bruising campaign capped with scandal.
Negron conceded to Mahoney, whose victory bolstered Democrats' hopes of regaining control of the House by taking a seat that had been seen as securely in GOP hands before Foley's troubles.

Negron then gave his concession speech to supporters in Stuart.
Foley resigned in September after being confronted with lurid computer messages he sent to male teenage pages. But he remained a major theme since it was too late to remove his name from the ballot, leaving Negron, his replacement, the difficult task of telling voters that ballots for Foley went to him.
