FBI agents are asking help from the public in their search for a man described as the mastermind of a murder-for-hire scheme.

Juan Jesus Alvarez is being sought in the August 2002 shooting of another Chicago man, Jose Estrada.

Cook County prosecutors say Alvarez is suspected of hiring three men to kill Estrada. They say Alvarez believed Estrada was dating his estranged wife.

The three have been arrested and convicted, the FBI said.

The 45-year-old Alvarez, who uses the the alias Urbano Perez, is described as a 5-foot-6 Hispanic male, about 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about Alvarez should call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700 or any law enforcement agency, the FBI said.
