LOS ANGELES – Brooke Shields (search), who famously battled postpartum depression, says she's thrilled to be pregnant with her second child.
The baby is due in the spring, her publicist, Alan Eichorn, confirmed Thursday.
Shields, who gave birth to daughter Rowan Francis in 2003, is married to writer-producer Chris Henchy (search).
"[I'm] thrilled, we're thrilled," the 40-year-old actress said in an interview on "Access Hollywood" that was to air Friday. "[Rowan's] pretty happy about it."
Shields has played Roxie Hart in the long-running Broadway revival of "Chicago" (search) since Sept. 9. She is set to continue in the role until Sunday.
When asked if the pregnancy has made the physical demands of the role more challenging, Shields replied: "It's work. It's a lot of work whether you are [pregnant] or not. Eight shows a week is enough to kill anybody."
Shields chronicled her post-pregnancy experiences in "Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression" (search).
The actress, who began modeling as a toddler, has appeared in films including "Pretty Baby," "The Blue Lagoon" and "Endless Love." Her TV sitcom, "Suddenly Susan," ran from 1996-2000.
