Hairspray's Birttany Snow has come do the defense of her co-star Nikki Blonsky following a Caribbean airport fight between Blonsky and America's Next Top Model contestant Bianca Golden, People Magazine reported.

"Nikki is one of my really dear friends, and she's not a person that I would ever expect to have that controversy … surrounding her," Snow, 22, told People Magazine at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

"I don't know how it happened or what exactly went on, but my heart goes out to her, because I really do love her, and I know she didn't mean to hurt anybody – and nor did her dad. Her family is amazing!"

A police source told People that last Friday's altercation was the result of a disagreement over seating in the departure lounge.

According to People, Blonsky was arrested and charged with assault and actual bodily harm. She was later released on bail, while her father, Carl Blonsky, was charged with grievous bodily harm and required to remain in jail for 9 days until a hearing is set on his bail.

Bianca Golden was charged with assault with actual bodily harm, People said.

Golden's mother was reportedly hospitalized with serious injuries.
