Tax Returns Tell All
Florida Governor Jeb Bush says he has the best job in the world — but his tax returns show it's not exactly the most lucrative.

His re-election campaign has released ten years of federal income tax returns — and the numbers tell an interesting tale.

He worked only six months in 1998, spending the other time running for governor. Despite that, he reported income of $782,000 for the year. He made only about a third as much in 1999 — $283,000, including his $113,000 state salary.
Working for Bill

On the other hand, former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, a leading Democrat in the race against Jeb Bush, made about $140,000 dollars a year while working in President Clinton's administration, but last year alone she made a whopping $628,000 dollars on tour as a celebrity public speaker for the Greater Talent Network.

Willing to Die for Israel?
Former President Bill Clinton says he's ready to die for Israel if Iraq attacks the Jewish state. He made his bombshell remarks at a Toronto Hadassah children's charity dinner, saying "I would personally get in a ditch, grab a rifle, and fight and die."

He then offered his solution to the Middle East peace puzzle: "Establish a Palestinian state now."

He stressed that such a deal must include security guarantees for Israel and a timetable for settling the thorny issues of national boundaries.

Views Distorted by Political Flier?
A spokesman for the Martin Luther King Jr. Center is accusing black churches in the Miami-Dade County area of distributing a flier that distorts the late civil rights leader's views.

The leaflets advocate repealing the county's gay-rights law. The text says:

"Martin Luther King Junior would be outraged! If he knew homosexualist extremists were abusing the civil rights movement to get special rights based on their sexual behavior."

It goes on to urge residents to repeal what it calls, "The dangerous 'sexual preferences' amendment, which gives special privileges to Homosexuals, Bisexuals, Heterosexuals and Transexuals."

Although King never publicly discussed his views on homosexuality, his widow Coretta Scott King issued a statement asking anyone who believes in King's dream to, "Make room at the table of brother and sisterhood for lesbians and gay people."
