Eye of the Beholder

Adding to the moral grandeur of the United Nations is the fact that the new chair of the U.N. Human Rights Commission is Libya, which appears on the State Department's list of terrorist states.

Other members of the commission include fellow human-rights abusers Syria, Cuba and the Sudan.

Correcting the Record

The Washington Post reports Sunday of Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist: "In December, it was discovered that Frist included a provision in a health care bill that limited Eli Lilly's liability in pending litigation over the safety of its vaccines in which mercury was used as a preservative." The allegation is used to support the notion that Frist is linked closely with drug companies and HMOs.

Unfortunately for the Post, the allegation is false. The provision in question was introduced not by Frist, but former House Majority Leader Dick Armey.

Edwards' press secretary says the presidential hopeful wasn't chomping gum, merely sucking a breath mint.
