And now some fresh pickings from the wartime grapevine:

More Questions About Al Qaeda and Al-Jazeera Connection

One day after Al-Jazeera (search) correspondent Tayssir Alouni was officially charged with funding and coordinating some of Al Qaeda's (search) terrorist activities, the Arab T.V. network aired never-before-seen video of 9/11 hijacker Saeed Alghamdi.

Pentagon officials accuse Al-Jazeera of providing "easy" propaganda for Al-Qaeda. The man in the video offers up his last will and calls for holy Jihad against Americans, saying, "America is the enemy that every Muslim should fight. There is no way the Arab nation can be saved except through Jihad."

Al-Jazeera, however, says the tape is a "positive thing for the U.S." in that, "hopefully it will put to rest" suspicions in the Middle East that Al Qaeda was not behind 9/11. It does not, however, put to rest questions about the relationship between Al Qaeda and Al-Jazeera.

Attendance Record

Democratic Presidential Candidate and Missouri Representative Dick Gephardt (search) has the worst attendance record in Congress this year, according to a new study by Congressional Quarterly. Gephardt…who has been campaigning for much of the year…was away for 90 percent of 457 votes taken this term in the House.

Meanwhile, a new FOX news opinion dynamics poll shows more people believe Al Gore (search) or New York Senator Hillary Clinton (search) will win the Democratic presidential nomination than believe Gephardt will. Thing is, neither Gore nor Clinton is in the race, and both have repeatedly insisted that's not going to change.

Delicious Dogs?

The Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh has a new plan for dealing with all stray mutts wandering around the city: fry them…and then, eat them. The city government…which long has frowned upon mutt munching…now wants to clean up dog messes by putting the chow back in Chou Chou.

City Governor Kep Chuktema says dog meat is "delicious," adding that poor folks can enhance its subtle blend of tastes with a nice glass of palm juice wine.
