Annie Potts' Son Found Alive in Calif.

MOUNT BALDY, Calif. – The son of "Designing Women" actress Annie Potts (search) and a screenwriter have been found alive and safe Monday after they were reported missing on a hike the previous night, a FOX News affiliate station in Los Angeles has confirmed.

Clay Senechal, 23 — who is Potts' son — and writer Jonathan Lemkin, 43, were hiking in Mount Baldy (search) in San Bernardino County over the weekend and failed to return when they were expected about 7 p.m. Sunday, Robin Haynal of the San Bernardino County sheriff's department told City News Service (search).

KTTV, the local FOX News station in Los Angeles, confirmed the men were found alive and safe.

Their families reported the pair missing late Sunday night, Haynal told City News Service.

A Los Angeles news station reported that the men decided to camp overnight on the hiking trail instead of risking getting lost in the dark. The weather had taken a turn for the worse.

The men apparently walked out Monday morning to find a note on their vehicle telling them the police were looking for them. They went to the command post as the note told them to.

Senechal is the son of Potts, who starred in the television series "Designing Women" (search) and had a role in the film "Ghostbusters" (search), and director B. Scott Senechal. Lempkin's writing credits include "The Devil's Advocate" and the story for "Lethal Weapon 4."

Rescue workers found the men's Range Rover at the base of a trailhead.

"They searched all night," Haynal said before the men turned up. "It's very icy up there because we've had a lot of snow, and it's very rough terrain."

The 10,064-foot mountain, the tallest peak in the San Gabriel Mountains, is about 40 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.

The sheriff's department had asked for assistance from Los Angeles and Riverside County agencies in finding the men.
