New Jersey police have issued an Amber Alert for a 3-year-old girl who disappeared while shopping with her mother.
The victim, identified as Jessica Alexandra Alvarez, was spotted on surveillance video being led out of the Unique Thrift Store in Elizabeth, N.J., by an unidentified woman while the girl's mother was shopping around noon Thursday, State Police say.
Alvarez — who is 3-feet tall and weighs about 30 pounds — was last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, a white T-shirt and tan pants.
State Police Public Information Officer William Reyes said the suspect was described as a black woman in her late 40s or early 50s, about 5 feet tall and weighing about 135 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black bushy wig, heavy makeup and a teal shirt with dark tights.
Reyes said the incident does not appear to be a custody dispute. No vehicle or weapon was involved, he said.
