NEW YORK – Alex Rodriguez is preparing for an addition to his family while he gets ready to face the Indians in the playoffs.
The Yankees third baseman and his wife, Cynthia, are expecting their second child in the spring, according to People magazine.
"Cynthia and I are overjoyed to announce this addition to our family," Alex Rodriguez told the magazine. "We realize what a special gift children are, and feel very blessed to welcome our second child."
Rodriguez and the Yankees take on the Indians in Game 1 of their AL playoff series Thursday in Cleveland. A-Rod hit 54 homers and had 156 RBIs this season, numbers likely to earn him his third AL MVP award.
The couple already has a daughter, Natasha, 2.
Cynthia Rodriguez got some attention in July when she wore a tank top with foul language on the back to a game at Yankee Stadium. The club acknowledged talking to the couple about the shirt but declined to comment further.
In late May, A-Rod's marriage was front-page news when the New York Post published a photograph of him and a woman — later reported to be a Las Vegas stripper — at a Toronto hotel. The Post said the pair entered an elevator in the hotel and later went to a strip club.
