A quadriplegic man in southwest Alabama who is accused of secretly videotaping young girls while they took showers in his house has been charged with producing child pornography and faces 45 years in prison if convicted.

42-year-old Robert Vezendy of Satsuma faces three production of child pornography counts, four counts of possession of child porn and one count receipt of child porn. The New York native was found during Operation Emissary II, an undercover probe of international child pornographers.

He was ordered held at Mobile County Metro Jail until his appearance today in U.S. District Court.

Vezendy's lawyer said he will ask a judge to release Vezendy to the custody of his parents, who have driven to Mobile from their home in New York.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from the Department of Homeland Security seized computers and hard drives from Vezendy's home last month.

Authorities are trying to identify the girls in the videos.
