I have now read several e-mails asking me, "What about that blood in the van?"
When I read the first one, my heart dropped to my feet. I have now read several e-mails about it. I realized upon reading even the first e-mail, that I had teased in Wednesday night's show that we would be talking later in the show about blood in a van in the Scott Peterson case. Then, as luck would have it, we did not. Why? Are you ready for this? I forgot to talk about it. We discussed other Peterson murder case topics, but I got distracted by the discussion and neglected the blood in van topic. Some viewers are annoyed. I don't blame you.
So, to attempt to make it up to you, here is what should have been discussed: A van that was seen in the Peterson neighborhood around the time of Laci's disappearance, and connected to a burglary in that neighborhood, was seized. It was seized about a year ago. It is suspected, or there is, blood in that van. The prosecution believes this van has nothing to do with Laci's disappearance. However, the prosecution believes that the defense will attempt to use it to cast doubt on whether Scott murdered his wife. So, "to head them off at the pass," the prosecution wants to test the blood in the van. I don't know if there really is blood, or whether the defense will attempt to use it during the trial, or whose blood it is. But, I do hope to discuss the strategy -- from both perspectives -- with our legal panel Thursday night.
And, as to the viewers who caught my mistake: Good ear!
Two days ago I offered free show bumper stickers and I have received many requests. I am now working to process them. I am delighted -- actually, flattered -- that so many of you want the bumper stickers and I want you to know that I am spending about two hours a day getting them out. Just so you know, the plan is to mail them on Fridays. In the meantime I am gathering addresses, etc. from the show e-mail account.

While the abundance of political polls may be good for media ratings, they risk encouraging people to be less independent in their thinking and they risk creating the false comfort that comes from following the crowd. Most troublesome are the "unscientific" polls that are usually identified, without explanation, in a footnote. Opinions from polarized, partisan groups can be made to look like the opinion of the general public.

I have a suggestion for your next Greta Poll
1. The 9/11 Commission is doing a great job and I have confidence in its upcoming report.
2. The 9/11 Commission is a partisan political process and I have no confidence in its reporting.
3. The Congress is more to blame for 9/11 than the FBI or CIA
4. The FBI and CIA are responsible for 9/11
5. Jamie Gorlick should never have been on the 9/11 Commission.
6. The 9/11 Commission has lost its credibility
I would just like to know what the American people think of the Commission and what it is doing. I personally think it was a waste of money that could have been spent on securing our borders and other areas of concern. We already knew the problems and what need to be corrected. This is just a stage show.

Why do you have so many Democrats on your program? You sound like one also. If Mr. Clinton had done something when our "Embassy" was bombed and the ship "The "Cole " was bombed and "The World Home Trade Center" was bombed we might not have had "9-11. You never bring that up do you. You say [ you report the news and We decide], but you only give us one side to hear- The Democrats-! You are not fair!

ANSWER: Ruth and Ed: If you actually "count" the guests on our show, I think you will find we give equal time to both voices -- Republican and Democrat. Sometimes when people don't agree with a thought, the first reaction is to shout: "un-fair." This may actually not be unfair and, frankly, I find an exchange of ideas, a strong debate, to be the bedrock of our democracy. I am not so certain of all my opinions that I am unwilling to listen to others.
