The "Eagle" has almost landed.
A week before its unveiling at the 2008 British Auto Show, Lotus has relased the first official photo of its first all-new car since 1995. Known internally as Project Eagle, the mid-engined coupe is expected to have a different name when it makes its formal introduction on June 22.
With 2+2 seating, and a 276 horsepower 3.5 liter V6, the Eagle is a larger, more luxurious vehicle than the British automaker's current Elise/Exige lineup, but the company says it stays true to its tradition of producing light and nimble performance cars.
Deliveries of the Eagle - or whatever it ends up being called - will start in the Spring of 2009 at the rate of about 2000 cars a year.
