Two men have been killed in a pair of explosions at a central Ohio oil well, authorities said.

Kevin Fout, 53, and Jessie Price, 45, were doing some welding on an oil storage tank on the property Sunday afternoon when there was one huge explosion followed by another, authorities said.

Marion County Sheriff Tim Bailey said the blasts near the town of La Rue were heard as far as six miles away.

Officials are investigating whether the explosions were sparked by the welding and grinding tools being used. No one else was injured.

La Rue is about 60 miles northwest of Columbus.
