Two people are dead and four injured in a fiery crash involving a transit bus, two trucks and four other vehicles on a freeway east of Irwindale.

California Highway Patrol Officer Jennifer Connolly says the crash was reported shortly after 5:45 a.m. Friday on Interstate 210.

Authorities shut all eastbound lanes to clear the wreckage of chainlink fence spilled from a truck and investigate the cause of the collision.

Westbound traffic is moving slowly through the area with a backup of miles. The CHP says it expects eastbound traffic to begin moving again about 1 p.m.

Connolly says there were no passengers on the Foothill Transit bus.

Fire Inspector Frank Garido says one of the victims had to be removed from under a truck.
