Just as Yasiel Puig began to gain traction at the plate again recently, it appears as though he'll be sidelined for at least a couple days.

In the ninth inning of the Dodgers' 1-0 win over the Reds in Cincinnati on Thursday, Puig re-injured his right hamstring while beating out an infield single.

After missing five weeks earlier in the season with a strained left hamstring, Puig initially strained his right hamstring last week while on the Dodgers' road trip to Oakland.

"I felt it a little more than when I hurt it in Oakland," Puig told the Los Angeles Times.

The injury comes at an inopportune juncture not only for the Dodgers, who are kicking it in to fifth gear as they attempt to remain atop the NL West, but for Puig as well, who has been hitting noticeably better in the past three weeks.

After dipping to season-low slash line of .241/.314/.409 on Aug. 10, Puig has hit .317/.364/.610 with three home runs and nine RBI over his last 11 games, boosting his numbers up to .253/.321/.440 on the season.

"I'm improving my hitting, but this happened with my leg again," the 24-year-old right fielder said. "I can't do anything about that. All I can do is continue working, continue receiving treatment and see what destiny brings me in this final month."

While an injury to one of their most talented players is concerning for the Dodgers, Puig was only sidelined for two games with his right hamstring injury earlier in August before returning to the starting lineup.

"With the treatment I was receiving, I was able to withstand the games," he said. "It wasn't that severe that time. Now, God willing, this one isn't that severe, either."
