Corielle Yarde scored 15 points and No. 25 Marist used its stifling defense to beat Iona 56-45 on Friday.

The Red Foxes allowed just 14 field goals, holding Iona to 23.7 percent shooting. They also forced 16 turnovers in their 18th consecutive victory.

Elise Caron had 13 points and six rebounds for Marist (22-2, 13-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), which only shot 38.9 percent itself. Erica Allenspach finished with 12 points and four steals.

Kristina Ford had 15 points and 11 boards for Iona, which outrebounded the Red Foxes 49-36. Diana Hubbard had 10 points and Tomica Bacic also had 11 rebounds.

Marist put together a 7-0 run to take a 29-17 lead with 5:21 left in the first half. Yarde capped the surge with a 3-pointer and a layup.
