(SportsNetwork.com) - Tiger Woods announced on Twitter on Friday that he will begin his 2015 season at the Waste Management Phoenix Open followed by the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines the week after.

"Starting my year off at Phoenix & Torrey back-to-back weeks. I'm ready to go. Should be a lot of fun," Woods said on his Twitter account Friday.

Woods has made three career appearances at the Phoenix Open, with his last one coming all the way back in 2001. This year's Phoenix Open will begin Jan. 29, with the Farmers Insurance Open being played the following week from Feb. 5-8.

"It will be great to return to Phoenix," Woods said on his website. "The crowds are amazing and always enthusiastic, and the 16th hole is pretty unique in golf. Torrey is a very important place to me. My pop took me there when I was younger, and I have a lot of special memories of watching the tour play there when I was growing up."

Woods has never won the Phoenix Open in three starts, but he has had plenty of success at Torrey Pines. Back when the event was named the Buick Invitational, Woods won six times, including a stretch of four straight victories from 2005-08. After the event's name changed to the Farmers Insurance Open in 2010, Woods added one more win in 2013.

Woods made his return to competition in early December at the Hero World Challenge, an unofficial event that he also hosts, where the 39-year-old finished tied for last in an 18-player field.

Prior to the Hero World Challenge, Woods had not played since missing the cut at the PGA Championship. Woods was limited to just eight events during the 2013-14 season as he was dealing with a number of back issues.
