Tiger Woods says he has a mild strain of his left Achilles and can begin hitting balls later this week.
Woods withdrew from the WGC-Cadillac Championship after 11 holes Sunday with the injury.
"Got good news from doc tonight," Woods tweeted Monday night. "Only mild strain of left Achilles. Can resume hitting balls late in week and hopeful for next week."
A statement Sunday said Woods' Achilles tightened up on the range and got worse throughout the round, prompting his withdrawal.
It was the first time Woods withdrew from an event since last year's Players Championship. He has had a series of knee injuries throughout his career.
Woods is scheduled to play the Arnold Palmer Invitational next week in his last event before next month's Masters.
