With defender Omar Gonzalez sidelined by a strained left hip, Michael Orozco has been added to the U.S. roster for the Americans' final two World Cup qualifiers.

Gonzalez, Major League Soccer's top defender in 2011, was forced out of the Los Angeles Galaxy's game Sunday at halftime because of the injury. Orozco was to join the Americans on Tuesday in Kansas City, Kan., where they play Jamaica on Friday night.

Orozco has made five appearances for the U.S. in 2013, including four games in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The Americans are in first place in the North and Central American and Caribbean finals, and already have clinched a spot in next year's tournament in Brazil. They close out qualifying Tuesday at Panama.
