Wichita's Perez named MISL Player of Week

Wichita Wings midfielder Bryan Perez was named the Major Indoor Soccer League's Player of the Week on Tuesday for Week 14.

Perez scored the match-winning goal in overtime to cap a five-point night, as Wichita edged the Rochester Lancers, 19-17, on Saturday night.

Wichita pulled within three games of the Missouri Comets for second place and the second and final postseason spot from the Central Division. The Wings have two games in hand.

The Baltimore Blast opened last week's action with a 26-4 win over the Norfolk SharX on Wednesday, but suffered a 22-8 loss to the Milwaukee Wave on Saturday in a battle of the league's top two clubs.

Milwaukee has the top mark in MISL, leads the Central Division, and has sealed a playoff berth. Baltimore, which has the second-best record, has clinched the top spot in the Eastern Division and a playoff berth.

MISL action resumes Thursday when the Syracuse Silver Knights host Norfolk. On Friday, Milwaukee hosts Wichita and Missouri hosts Baltimore. Rochester hosts Syracuse and Milwaukee hosts Missouri on Sunday to cap the week's matches.
