Chicago, IL – The Chicago White Sox released pitcher Brian Bruney on Monday.
The righty was designated for assignment on August 5 and had cleared waivers before rejecting an outright assignment to Triple-A Charlotte.
He went 1-0 with a 6.86 earned run average over 23 appearances out of the bullpen this season for Chicago.
Over eight seasons in the majors, he is 18-12 with a 4.70 ERA in 272 games with the Diamondbacks, Yankees, Nationals and White Sox.
