Chicago, IL – The Chicago White Sox placed pitcher John Danks on the 15-day disabled list on Friday.
The move is retroactive to May 20.
Danks has soreness in the sub scapular area of his left shoulder, which was revealed by an MRI on Thursday. He last pitched on Saturday in a win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
On the season, the 27-year-old is 3-4 with a 5.70 earned run average over nine starts.
To take his spot in the rotation, the team called up pitcher Jose Quintana from Triple-A Charlotte.
Quintana pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings in a relief appearance for the White Sox on May 7.
