Bremen, Germany – Werder Bremen have completed the signing of Italian defender Luca Caldirola from Serie A side Inter Milan, the club confirmed on Thursday.
The 22-year-old captained his country at the European Under-21 Championship in Israel and has joined Bremen on a four-year deal.
Caldirola has never made a senior appearance for Inter, having spent much of his career on loan, with spells at Vitesse, Brescia and Cesena. But he appears ready to don a Bremen kit this season.
"Werder is one of the top clubs in the Bundesliga," Caldirola said. "I am very happy to be here and will give my all in the Werder jersey."
Bremen struggled in Germany's top flight last season, finishing in 14th place on 34 points, just four clear of relegated Dusseldorf.
