The Golden State Warriors get back to work on Wednesday night following a disappointing pre-Christmas loss as they visit the Utah Jazz.
The Warriors have put together a solid season and are eight games over .500 at 18-10. Golden State won 10 of 12 from Nov. 19-Dec. 12, but has split six games since.
Looking to head into a three-day break with a victory, the Warriors instead dropped a 118-115 overtime decision to the Los Angeles Lakes on Saturday. Jarrett Jack was big off the bench with 29 points and 11 assists, hitting a game-tying jumper to force overtime with 1.7 seconds left in regulation.
"He's been great all year long. He comes in and has a calming effect when he runs our offense. He's a scoring threat and he makes plays," said Warriors head coach Mark Jackson of Jarrett. "Credit again to our ownership and front office by doing a great job of finding what we needed. He's everything that we thought he would be when we traded for him."
David Lee notched his career-high 12th straight game of at least 20 points and also had 11 rebounds, while Stephen Curry had 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in a game that featured 20 lead changes.
"I think that was the first time we lost when we had the lead heading into the fourth quarter," noted Curry. "We've had situations where we had big leads and had to hold on for dear life, but we still got it done. Then we had games where we let go of the lead and finished it out. We're just a team who had veterans and Hall of Fame guys that figured it out in the last five minutes, so we have to learn from this."
The Jazz are hoping to figure things out after snapping a two-game slide with Sunday's 97-93 victory over the Orlando Magic. Utah trailed by as many as 16 in the game, but rallied after dropping its previous two by a total of 36 points.
Jamaal Tinsley got the start at point in place of Mo Williams, who is out indefinitely due to a right thumb injury, and had 11 points and four assists. He hit a go-ahead 3-pointer late in the fourth.
"They did a great job on the boards tonight, but we just made them work for everything in the second half and wound up coming out on top," Tinsley said.
Paul Millsap was also one of six Jazz players to score in double figures, notching 18 points, while Gordon Hayward had 17 on 7-of-10 shooting.
Utah won for just the second time in six games.
The Jazz won three of four versus the Warriors last season and have taken seven of the past 11 encounters overall.
Golden State has lost two straight and 10 of its past 12 in Utah.
