Warriors roll into matchup with Thunder

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Golden State Warriors will put their eight-game winning streak on the line Friday night when they begin a tough weekend road trip at Chesapeake Energy Arena versus the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Warriors play in OKC, then visit the Houston Rockets on Saturday.

Golden State hasn't lost since Christmas when it fell to the Los Angeles Clippers in LA. Since, the Warriors won seven of their eight in a row at Oracle Arena.

The Warriors have lost two of their last three on the road.

On Wednesday, the Warriors had little trouble knocking off the Miami Heat, 104-89.

Stephen Curry hit seven 3-pointers and netted 32 points in Golden State's romp. Klay Thompson added 19 points for the Warriors, who tied a franchise record with their 15th straight home win. The 1989-90 team also won 15 straight in Oakland.

"The schedule is what it is. You gotta play 41 on the road and 41 at home," Curry said. "I think for us, we know we gotta play some good teams on the road. If we can win them, it will boost our confidence and keep our momentum going."

Curry and Thompson were the only double-figure scorers for the Warriors, but all 10 Golden State players who saw time scored.

Shaun Livingston missed the previous two games after a little slump, but he will play Friday in Oklahoma City.

The Thunder have fallen 3 1/2 games behind the Phoenix Suns for the eighth spot in the Western Conference playoff race, which still has half the season to materialize.

However, OKC has dropped three of its last four. The Thunder do own a four- game home winning steak, but hit the road for five games, starting Sunday in Orlando.

On Thursday, the Thunder couldn't recover from allowing 40 points in the first quarter and fell to the Houston Rockets, 112-101.

Kevin Durant paced the Thunder with 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Russell Westbrook, Dion Waiters and Reggie Jackson scored 16 points apiece. Serge Ibaka added 13.

Oklahoma City had not played since last Friday and dropped to 18-20 on the season.

"We've struggled before and we've got out of it," Durant said. "We don't make no excuses and we figure it out."

The Warriors will go for the season sweep of the Thunder and won by five in Oklahoma City on Nov. 23. The Thunder are 10-2 in Oklahoma City against the Warriors since moving there prior to the 2008-09 season.
