Birmingham, England – Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan has been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after he crashed his Ranger Rover in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The 21-year-old Bannan escaped the incident without injury, but he was arrested along with 20-year-old Shrewsbury Town striker James Collins, who came up through Villa's youth system.
According to a Nottinghamshire Police spokesman there were no other vehicles involved in the crash and both Bannan and Collins have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Bannan has appeared in eight of Villa's nine league games this season, scoring one goal.
