Vetyeka claims John's WBA title

Northbridge, Australia (SportsNetwork.com) - IBO featherweight champion Simpiwe Vetyeka has dethroned Chris John as the WBA featherweight champ.

Vetyeka (27-2) dropped John (48-1-3) at the end of the sixth round of Friday's title fight and the bout was halted between rounds.

John was making the 19th defense of his WBA belt.
