Brendan Bald scored 16 points and Joey Accaoui and Evan Fjeld added 15 apiece as Vermont routed Maryland-Baltimore County 85-48 on Saturday.

The Catamounts (12-4, 3-1 America East Conference) struggled to gain any offensive momentum in the opening half, shooting 32.1 percent from the floor (9 of 28), including 2 of 11 from 3-point range (18.2 percent).

Despite the slow start, Vermont led 29-27 at halftime thanks in large part to a 32-percent shooting effort (8 of 25) from the Retrievers (1-16, 0-4) in the first half.

Vermont scored the first 11 points of the second half to open up a 40-27 lead and led 61-46 with 7:03 left to play. The Catamounts would finish the game on a 24-2 run as UMBC failed to make a field goal and committed five turnovers in the final seven minutes.

Chris De La Rosa was the lone bright spot for the Retrievers, scoring 20 points.
