Sao Paulo, Brazil – Vasco da Gama won for the fourth time in as many games on Sunday as the club secured a 2-1 road win over Bahia.
The result leaves Vasco as the only side still sporting a perfect record as the team leads second-place Atletico Mineiro by two points.
Vasco got off to a good start on Sunday as Juninho put his team in front after seven minutes before Diego Souza doubled the advantage shortly after the half- hour mark.
Bahia held the visitors without a goal over the final 60 minutes, but could only manage one themselves, and it didn't arrive until the 90th minute when Junior found the back of the net.
Mineiro stayed within two points of Vasco as Jo's goal in the 48th minute was the difference in a 1-0 win at Palmeiras on Saturday.
The other match Saturday saw Flamengo claim its first win of the campaign after three successive draws as the hosts toppled Coritiba, 3-1.
Portuguesa also earned its first victory over weekend as goals from Ricardo Jesus and Moises helped the club to a 2-0 triumph over Goianiense, while Fluminense was held to a third draw in four games after a 0-0 stalemate with International.
Gremio has won three of its first four games following a 2-0 victory against Corinthians courtesy of first-half goals from Marcos Antonio and Andre Lima, Wellington Paulista's penalty kick in the 70th minute handed Cruzeiro a 1-0 win over Sport Recife, Nautico got a goal from Derley in the 83rd minute to snatch a 3-2 win against Botafogo, Santos lost 1-0 to Sao Paulo and has scored just once in four games this season, while Figueirense held on for a 0-0 draw against Ponte Preta after having Sandro sent off in the 63rd minute.
