Vancouver, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced Wednesday that midfielder Davide Chiumiento has been transferred to Swiss side FC Zurich.
Chiumiento, a native of Switzerland, joined Vancouver from another Swiss Super League side, FC Luzern, in August of 2010.
"I have really enjoyed my time in Vancouver and I would like to thank the fans, the club, and my teammates for all of their support," Chiumiento in a statement. "It's been two great years, but now I look forward to the next chapter of my career, which will fortunately bring me closer to my family."
The 27-year-old started 15 games for the Whitecaps this season, producing five assists but no goals.
Financial details of the sale were not disclosed.
