SAO PAULO – FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke says Brazil is getting close to finalizing its preparations for the World Cup but there's "not a single moment to relax" until the opener in less than two weeks.
After touring all 12 host cities to check on their final preparations, Valcke says organizers are "busy applying the final touches" to make sure the country is ready for global football's showcase event.
Players and fans "deserve the best conditions and a warm reception in the host country," and Valcke adds that everything "must be perfect" by the June 12 start.
During his visit to the host cities, Valcke says he saw a "growing excitement" for the first World Cup in Brazil since 1950.
