USC dominates UCLA in season finale
Los Angeles, CA – Matt Barkley threw for 423 yards and six 0 victory over UCLA.
Barkley's six touchdowns tied USC's record for touchdowns in a game and he finished the season with 39 touchdowns, setting the Pac-12 record for TD passes in a season.
Marqise Lee hauled in 13 passes for 224 yards and two scores, while Robert Woods added 12 catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns for USC (10-2, 7-2 Pac-12), which clinched the Pac-12 South Division with the win.
Kevin Prince completed 20-of-32 passes for 259 yards and an interception for UCLA (6-6, 5-4).
Nelson Rosario caught seven passes for 118 yards in a losing effort.
Despite finishing behind USC in the Pac-12 South, UCLA will face Oregon next week for the Pac-12 crown because of NCAA sanctions placed on the Trojans forbidding them from appearing in a bowl or championship game.
USC set the its offensive tone early, scoring on the fourth play of the opening drive when Barkley hit Lee for a 42-yard touchdown strike.
The Bruins looked like they would answer with a score on the ensuing drive by driving inside the Trojans' five-yard line, but they decided to go for it on 4th-and-goal at the one and were stuffed, turning the ball over on downs.
It took USC just five plays to score again as Curtis McNeal broke free for a 73-yard run to extend the Trojans lead.
UCLA would be held to three-and-outs on its next two possessions and each time the Trojans would end their drives with touchdowns, as Barkley found Randall Telfer for a one-yard TD to cap a 13-play drive and later hit Rhett Ellison for a three-yard score to finalize an 11-play march.
A pass to Xavier Grimble to complete a two-point conversion after Telfer's touchdown made it a 29-0 game late in the second.
The Bruins had one more chance to get on the board in the first half when they drove inside the USC 10, but Prince's toss into the end zone was intercepted by T.J. McDonald to keep it a 29-0 game at the break.
The rout continued in the second half as USC scored on each of its first three touches.
UCLA took the ball first but Prince's throw on fourth down fell incomplete to turn the ball over to the Trojans at their own 47.
Two plays later, Barkley hooked up with Lee for a 52-yard strike.
The Bruins punted on their next two possessions and each time Barkley found Woods in the end zone. The first was a four-yard score late in the third quarter and the latter was a 41-yard bomb early in the fourth to cap the scoring.
The Bruins marched down to the USC seven in the final minutes of the contest, but they decided to go for it on fourth instead of kick a field goal and Prince's throw into the end zone was batted down.
