U.K. police say a man has died from stab wounds after a fight at the shopping mall that will be the gateway to London's Olympic Park.

Metropolitan police said the man was killed Friday afternoon on the ground floor of the Westfield shopping mall and another has been arrested.

The new mall links the Stratford train, bus and subway stations to the Olympic Park in east London. Spectators will have to walk through it to reach a number of Olympic venues for the games that are taking place from July 27 to Aug. 12.

Stratford has traditionally been a poor neighborhood with a relatively high crime rate but the Summer Olympics has helped regenerate the area.

Police gave no further details about the man's identity or what caused the fight.
