UFC ON FOX: Diaz Wins, Gaudinot Gets FOTN Prize

The Ultimate Fighting Championship's third "UFC on Fox" card turned out to be the most exciting of the series so far.

In the main event we saw lightweight Nate Diaz, one half of the unpredictable anti-social fighting Diaz brothers, show the mixed martial arts community that he had hit another level.

He dominated Jim Miller, controlling the clinch, peppering him with hard blows and when Miller refused to engage he taunted him, dropping his hands and daring him to try and hit him.

Even with domination in the stand up game Diaz showcased what he could do on the mat submitting Miller with a choke in the second round and then nonchalantly brushed off in the post fight press conference who he's like to face in his next match-up.

"I'm down for whatever," muttered Diaz.

UFC president Dana White confirmed that Diaz would meet the winner of Ben Henderson vs. Frankie Edgar at UFC 150 in Denver for a title shot.

Koscheck vs. Hendrick

In perhaps the least exciting fight of the main card Johnny Hendricks won via split decision over Josh Koscheck in what could be argued was a controversial welterweight bout.

Hendricks looked the victor after the match while Koscheck's face was significantly beaten but many felt Koscheck did enough to win the first and third rounds.

The judges felt differently.

Belcher upset Palhares

Middleweight Alan Belcher probably had the upset of the night as he beat Brazilian submission specialist at his own game.

After escaping a leg submission early Belcher stayed on the ground where he dominated and then knocked out the Brazilian to everyone's surprise.

“I dreamed about it a little bit, about submitting him, and shocking everyone like that. But that was just a dream," said Belcher.

Johnson vs. Barry

In what was the perfect opening bout for the event the large and intimidating Lavar Johnson knocked out kickboxing expert Pat Barry in the first round in impressive fashion.

Both men opened up with powerful blows and glancing head kicks.

Then Barry took the fight to the ground nearly submitting Johnson with a kimura arm lock.

After working his way out of it Johnson worked over Barry near the cage for what seemed like an eternity before Barry finally dropped to his knees and the ref stopped the fight.

Two notable match ups on the Saturday preliminary card.

Flyweight Louis Gaudinot, who spoke to Fox News Latino earlier in the week, won "Fight of the Night"

He submitted John Lineker in the second round with a guillotine choke earning the honor which also comes with a $65,000 bonus.

We caught up with him after the fight, before he was awarded the bonus.

Danny Castillo beat John Cholish by unanimous decision.

We also caught up with him after the fight.

Dennis Bermudez beat Pablo Garza by unanimous decision.

We spoke to him shortly after his match.
