UAE's Awana killed in car crash

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – United Arab Emirates midfielder Theyab Awana was killed in a car crash while traveling back from training on Sunday, it was confirmed by the country's football federation.

The 21-year-old became a hit on the internet when he scored a back-heeled penalty kick in a July friendly against Lebanon, which the UAE won, 7-2.

Awana is best known for the penalty against Lebanon but he was also considered to be an emerging talent for the national team having earned nine caps for his country and scoring three goals.
