Istanbul, Turkey (SportsNetwork.com) - Diana Taurasi scored 20 points and Maya Moore added 17 with 12 rebounds, leading the United States to a 94-74 win over Serbia at the women's FIBA World Championship on Sunday.
The Americans improved to 2-0 in group play after opening the tournament Saturday with an 87-56 victory over China. Round-robin play will end Tuesday against Angola.
Serbia used an 8-0 run to grab a 17-13 lead late in the first quarter and took a 21-17 edge after 10 minutes. The Americans, though, scored nine straight points midway through the second to move in front, taking a 39-31 advantage.
The U.S. carried a 49-42 lead to the intermission, but the Serbs again pulled ahead in the third at 57-56. Six straight points from the U.S. followed and the Americans never trailed again.
It was 70-64 heading to the fourth and a three from Taurasi to start the final period helped the Americans start pulling away.
Ana Dabovic paced Serbia with 24 points, but had only two after halftime.
