Tyran de Lattibeaudrie scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Anthony Holliday scored 17, and Lamar held off NAIA LSU Alexandria 78-75 on Sunday.

Lattibeaudrie's 17 points in the second half helped the Cardinals stay ahead despite being outshot 45.8 percent to 40.7 percent from the field and 33 percent to 30 percent from beyond the arc.

Turnovers (21-16) and fouls (31-17) hurt the Generals, who were outrebounded 40-38 and couldn't complete the comeback after trailing 37-26 at halftime and pulling to within 73-75 with 50 seconds to play.

Darryl Millburn led the Generals with 19, Darius Johnson had 12 and Jason Hawthorne 10. LSU Alexandria is in its inaugural basketball season.

Marcus Owens hit two free throws and had a key steal down the stretch for the Cardinals, who lost their season opener Friday to 22nd-ranked Southern Methodist 93-54. Benquan Petty had five assists.
