London, England – Kuanitra Holingsvorth led the way with 14 points as Turkey wrapped up preliminary play with a 70-65 defeat of Croatia in the women's basketball tournament.
Bahar Caglar and Esmeral Tuncluer each chipped in 11 points, while Nevriye Yilmaz netted 10 points to help Turkey (4-1) finish second in Group A behind the United States, which defeated China earlier on Sunday.
Ana Lelas paced the Croatians with 14 points, while Jelena Ivezic and Andja Jelavic each added 10 points.
Turkey held a 33-31 advantage at halftime and ballooned the lead up to 14 by outscoring Croatia 25-13 in the third stanza to take a 58-44 edge into the final frame.
A three-pointer from Iva Ciglar pulled Croatia within 62-60 with less than three minutes left in the fourth, but Turkey converted back-to-back buckets to keep Croatia at bay.
Croatia (1-4) finished fifth in Group A with six points and is eliminated from the tournament.
