Far Hills, NJ – The United States Golf Association announced on Thursday that Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey will host the 2017 U.S. Women's Open to be played July 13-16.
Donald Trump owns several golf courses around the world, but this will be the first major championship contested on a Trump-owned course.
"We are very happy to bring the 2017 U.S. Women's Open Championship to Trump National Bedminster," said USGA Vice President and Championship Committee Chairman Thomas J. O'Toole Jr. "The course has shown itself as a true examination of a player's mettle, and it will certainly serve as a tough testing ground for the world's best women golfers."
Trump National has two golf courses, but the USGA hasn't chosen which will be selected.
The club hosted the 2009 U.S. Junior Amateur and Girls' Junior championships.
This will be the first U.S. Women's Open contested in New Jersey since 1987. That championship was pushed into Tuesday by bad weather and Laura Davies needed an 18-hole playoff to defeat Ayako Okamoto and JoAnne Carner.
This year's U.S. Women's Open will be contested at Blackwolf Run in Wisconsin. The following four championships in which the course has been announced will all be on the East Coast. The site for the 2016 championship hasn't yet been announced.
