Istanbul, Turkey (SportsNetwork.com) - Tottenham surrendered top spot in Group C of the Europa League on Thursday after suffering a 1-0 loss to Besiktas.

It was an eventful affair in Istanbul as the match was halted early on due to floodlight failures.

The match resumed with neither side threatening in the first half, but the hose managed to break the deadlock in the 59th minute thanks to a close-range shot from Cenk Tosun.

The final whistled was delayed due to another blackout, but with only stoppage time to complete, the problem was resolved and the end of the match was eventually completed, bringing Besiktas to the top of the group with 12 points.

Tottenham, already secured of a spot in the knockout round, settles for second place with 11 points.

Asteras Tripolis and Partizan shared the spoils in the other match in Group C, finishing their dead rubber in a 0-0 tie.

Red Bull Salzburg continued its dominance in the Europa League by cruising to a 5-1 victory over Astra Giurgiu on Thursday. Kevin Kampl and Alan netted two goals apiece in the emphatic win, lifting the Austrian club to the top of Group D with 16 points.

Celtic finished second in group on eight points despite suffering a 4-3 loss to Dinamo Zagreb.

Borussia Monchengladbach and Villarreal advanced to the knockout round out of Group A by picking up wins on Thursday. 'Gladbach secured top spot in the group with a 3-0 result courtesy of Patrick Hermann and a brace from Branimir Hrgota while Villarreal scored two goals in the span of five minutes to collect a 2-0 victory over Apollon Limassol.

Torino smashed nine-man Copenhagen, 5-1, in Denmark to clinch a spot in the knockout round. The Italian side finished second in Group B behind Club Brugge, which earned a 2-1 win over HJK thanks to an 88th-minute goal from Lior Rafaelov.

Dinamo Moscow and PSV Eindhoven advanced to the knockout round from Group E, but the Russian side progressed with a perfect record as its 1-0 win at PSV made it 18 points from six matches. Panathinaikos and Estoril split the points in the group's other fixture, playing to a 1-1 draw.

In Group F, Inter Milan topped the group with a 0-0 draw at FK Karabakh while Dnipro claimed second place with a 1-0 defeat of St. Etienne.

Feyenoord cruised past Standard Liege with a 3-0 win to clinch top spot in Group G. The Dutch side will be joined in the next round by Europa League- holders Sevilla, which finished second in the group thanks to a 1-0 defeat of Rijeka.

Everton faltered in a 1-0 loss at Krasnador, though the Premier League side was already assured top spot in Group H. Wolfsburg, meanwhile, cruised to a 3-0 defeat of Lille to join the Toffees in the next round, finishing second on 10 points.

Napoli smashed Bratislava in a 3-0 victory at the Stadio San Paolo on Thursday, putting the Serie A club in first place in Group I. That result left Young Boys and Sparta Prague to battle for second place, and the Swiss side came out on top with a 2-0 victory to advance to the knockout round.

Dynamo Kyiv claimed first place in Group J with a 2-0 victory at Steaua Bucurest, eliminating the Romanian side from the competition. That result allowed AaB to advance to the knockout round despite suffering a 2-0 loss to Rio Ave.

Fiorentina suffered its first loss of the Europa League on Thursday, falling in a 2-1 defeat to Dinamo Minsk. That result allowed Guingamp to advance behind a 2-1 win at PAOK.

And in Group L, Legia Warsaw collected a 2-0 win over Trabzonspor and Lokeren claimed a 1-0 victory over Metalist Kharkiv, which allowed Trabzonspor to join Warsaw in the knockout round.
